Teresa B. Gibson, Ph.D., is an applied health researcher with over 20 years of experience in healthcare analytics, program evaluation, and digital health innovation. She currently serves as Director, Applied Statistics Graduate MS Program and Professor of Practice in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Rochester Institute of Technology.
Her research integrates machine learning and classical statistical methods to leverage real-world data for improving health outcomes and evaluating healthcare programs, policies, and technologies. She has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed publications and has contributed to the development and analysis of large-scale claims, electronic health record, and research-specific datasets.
Dr. Gibson has held leadership roles in national professional organizations including her current service as Co-Chair of the AcademyHealth Health Information Technology Interest Group Steering Committee. She has served as principal or co-principal investigator on federally-funded studies and other research initiatives focused on digital health interventions, adherence and compliance, and healthcare program evaluation. Previously, she served as Senior Director, Data and Data Science, IBM Consulting where she was an individual recipient of a corporate Outstanding Innovation Award (OIA) for innovation and technical excellence.
She earned a Ph.D. in Health Services Organization and Policy, an MA in Applied Economics, and an MS in Health Administration/Industrial Engineering from the University of Michigan, and a BS in Applied Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University.
