Introduction to Community-Engaged Research
In this session, researchers and practitioners share practical steps and lessons learned for planning and carrying out research studies that meaningfully involve community members in the work.
Vetta Sanders Thompson is the E. Desmond Lee Professor of Racial and Ethnic Studies at Washington University in St. Louis and Co-Director of the Center for Community Health, Research and Partnership (Institute for Public Health). Her funded research addresses racial identity, socialization and experiences of discrimination and their implications for well-being, as well as promotion of colorectal cancer screening and HPV vaccination among African Americans. Her community engaged research supports community efforts to achieve equity in health.
