Betsy Cliff is an assistant professor in the Division of Health Policy & Administration at the University of Illinois School of Public Health. Dr. Cliff received her doctoral degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health with a focus in health economics. Her research focuses on understanding the ways in which health insurance design and other patient-focused initiatives affect health care utilization and spending. She primarily uses econometric techniques with large administrative datasets and have recently examined Medicaid waiver programs, value-based and high-deductible health plans, the provision low-value medical care, and price transparency initiatives.
Betsy Cliff is a 2021 grantee of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Health Data for Action program, managed by AcademyHealth.
