Octavia Vogel is a doctoral candidate in the James T. Laney School of Graduate Studies at Emory University. Her research centers the intersection of race, gender, social determinants of health, and health outcomes among Black Women. She is a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana where I majored in Psychology Pre-medicine. She also has an MPH from the School of Public Health at Georgia State University and a BSN from the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University. Before returning to graduate school, she was the Director of Cancer Control Initiatives at the American Cancer Society. During her tenure at the American Cancer Society, she helped the organization launch health equity initiatives, increase access to high-quality care, and improve care coordination. She lives in Atlanta with her daughters. When she is not busy with work and school, you can find her gardening.
