Angela Gonzales, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the School of Social Transformation at Arizona State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Harvard University and an Ed.M. in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. As an interdisciplinary scholar, her research cuts across and integrates knowledge and practice across the fields of sociology, American Indian/Indigenous Studies, and public health with a focus on understanding and addressing the underlying causes of health inequities in health determinants, health status, and health care access between Indigenous and non-indigenous populations in the U.S. An enrolled member of the Hopi Tribe, Angela seeks to embody the Hopi values of sumingnawa (working together with others) and numingnawa (working for the benefit of all) through her research and service activities.
