Ms. Coleman is a third-year doctoral student studying Public Health at Saint Louis University. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgia State University and a Master of Public Health from University of Florida. While at UF, Alyssa developed an interest in social determinants of health and program evaluation. After graduating, Alyssa spent 5 years supporting the US Army Public Health Center as an ORISE Fellow and then as a contractor. In this position, she worked on community health assessments, evaluations of health promotion programs, and tools to assess built environments. As a graduate student at SLU, Alyssa has focused on underserved populations including racial minorities and women. Her work examines the impact of social and political determinants of chronic diseases including heart failure and chronic pain. Alyssa’s other research interests include economic, program, and policy evaluation.
