James O. Baffoe, PharmD, is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Health Outcomes Division at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy (UTCOP). His research employs mixed methods and community-engagement principles to investigate the effect of discrimination and homelessness on health outcomes and behaviors. He has examined how perceived discrimination in community pharmacies influences individuals’ decisions to obtain their medications. His dissertation aims to understand the factors affecting medication adherence among people experiencing homelessness. Currently, he is a research assistant for a randomized, controlled trial designed to help people experiencing homelessness improve care coordination to enhance health and social needs outcomes. Dr. Baffoe earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Cedarville University in Cedarville, OH. He was the President of the UTCOP Pharmacy Graduate Student Association. He received an AcademyHealth Health Equity Scholar award in 2023.
