Shakima Tozay is a U.S. Navy Veteran, social worker, and Native New Yorker living in the Pacific Northwest since 2000. She holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences and MSW from the University of Washington Tacoma and is currently pursuing her DSW degree at the University of Alabama with a focus on organizational leadership and policy engagement for reproductive health equity. Kima is also a licensed clinical social worker in Washington State and holds certifications in case management, diversity training, and perinatal mental health. In 2021, she completed the Kagen Fellows Program through SAMHSA's System of Care lens. She is also a recipient of the Council on Social Work Education Doctoral Policy Fellowship (Cohort 2023-2024) and the awardee of the Frederic Bastiat Fellowship through the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
