Stephanie M. Kissam, MPH directs the American Health Care Association’s grants from funders including NIA and CDC to promote continuous learning and building new evidence to improve outcomes for people receiving post-acute and long-term care in skilled nursing and assisted living settings. From 2009 to 2023, Ms. Kissam was a health services researcher at RTI International, where she led large national evaluation projects for CMS and ACL. Her areas of research include state health policy, health IT implementation, nursing home quality measure development and maintenance, and outcomes of value-based payment models. At the Rhode Island Department of Health 2005-2008, she contributed to the development of the state’s Health Information Exchange. She had a Fulbright to Sweden 2000-2001 to study the privatization of elder care services. She received her Master’s in Public Health from the University of Michigan and her undergraduate degree from Brown University.
