Theekshana Fernando is a researcher at the Center for Health Workforce Studies at the College of Integrated Health Sciences, University at Albany. His research includes the oral health workforce and their impact on expanded access to cost-effective oral health services for underserved populations, maternal and child health, immigrant and refugee health, health policy, and strategic planning. A physician by training, Theekshana received his MBBS from the Institute of Medicine, at the Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, Nepal. He also holds a (MPH) Master of Public Health from the University at Albany and is currently a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) candidate at the same institution. His doctoral research focuses on foreign trained medical graduates in residency training programs in New York and understanding facilitators for in-state retention post-residency training.
