Advancing Careers and Strengthening the Embedded Research Workforce

AcademyHealth’s inaugural two-year Applied Implementation Science Fellowship Program will train early- to mid-career researchers who want to use implementation science to accelerate change in real-world health care settings. Fellows will receive advanced training, expert mentorship, professional development opportunities, and hands-on experience conducting implementation science projects to enhance methodological and analytic skills and ultimately, increase the capacity of the applied implementation science workforce. Fellows will design and conduct applied implementation science research projects focused on real-world challenges in one of four therapeutic areas where proven evidence can make an immediate impact on patients:

  • Bone health (i.e., osteoporosis)
  • Severe uncontrolled asthma with or without associated COPD
  • Thyroid eye disease
  • IgG4-related conditions

A recording from the January 28, 2026 informational webinar is available here.

This program reflects AcademyHealth’s long-standing commitment to strengthening the embedded research workforce and aligns with our 2025–2030 Strategic Plan goal to Elevate the Profession by advancing professional development and implementation science.
