Overview

The mission of the Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Interest Group is to foster the development of the evidence base needed for policy and practice to meet the growing need for supportive services to individuals of all ages who live with chronic and disabling conditions. The group focuses on a life-span approach toward providing supportive services to individuals with chronic and disabling conditions, their families, and their paid service providers, regardless of setting.

The IG's goals are:

  • To strengthen the community of interdisciplinary researchers, policymakers, and organizational decision-makers who are committed to improving access, quality, and affordability of LTSS
  • To grow and foster development of the next generation of LTSS researchers
  • To foster the exchange of LTSS research findings among researchers, policymakers, and organizational decision makers
  • To increase the impact of LTSS research on policy and practice
  • To increase the usefulness and improve the quality of LTSS research

Advisory Committee

Each Interest Group (IG) is led by a dedicated group of volunteers who shape the information provided to IG members each year. The Advisory Committee is selected on an annual basis with nominations opening in June of each year. Check out this year’s LTSS IG Advisory Committee.

LTSS Mentorship Program

AcademyHealth’s LTSS Interest Group Mentoring Program was created in 2024 to support the development of emerging researchers and professionals in long-term services and supports. Recognizing the complexities of LTSS policy, research, and practice, this program aims to connect students and early career professionals with experienced mentors who can provide guidance, career advice, and research insights. By fostering these relationships, we seek to strengthen the LTSS workforce, promote knowledge sharing, and ensure the next generation of experts is well-equipped to address the evolving challenges in long-term care services and supports.
