Stephanie Zawada, PhD, MS is an Assistant Professor of Clinical and at Mayo Clinic. Her work focuses on advancing the translation
of digital health technologies, artificial intelligence, wearable and nearable devices, and remote patient monitoring from research into clinical practice. She collaborates with investigators, clinicians, industry partners, and entrepreneurs to evaluate emerging health technologies, guide commercialization strategies, and accelerate innovation that improves patient care.
Dr. Zawada earned her Ph.D. in Clinical and Translational Science from Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, where her research pioneered digital phenotyping approaches using smartphones and wearable sensors to monitor patients with cerebrovascular disease in real-world settings, and completed a Health and Aging Policy Fellowship with Columbia University, assisting state of Washington staff to secure
first-in-the-nation Medicaid coverage for companion robots.
Her broader interests span health technology translation, regulatory science, implementation science, health policy, and healthcare innovation. Through her research and technology development activities, she seeks to bridge scientific discovery, clinical implementation, and commercialization to improve healthcare delivery and population health.
