"Dawn” Hyosin Kim, PhD, is a Research Assistant Professor in the Health Management and Policy Program at Oregon State University. Her research focuses on improving healthcare quality and outcomes for older adults living with cognitive impairment, with particular emphasis on nursing home care, end-of-life care, advance care planning, and health equity. Dr. Kim uses large administrative claims databases, electronic health records, survey data, and mixed-methods approaches to examine healthcare utilization and patient experiences and to generate evidence that informs clinical practice and health policy. She is currently leading multiple NIH-submitted projects examining advance directives and end-of-life outcomes among nursing home residents. She also leads a NIH-funded pilot study on patient–clinician communication about physical activity among Medicare beneficiaries with self-reported memory problems.
Dr. Kim is committed to translating rigorous population-based research into practical improvements in long-term care through interdisciplinary collaboration and partnerships with policymakers.
