Dr. Chalmers is the Dental Officer with the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, Division of Dermatology, and Dentistry at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Chalmers is a board-certified pediatric dentist and Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Before joining the FDA, her work focused on transforming data and information into actionable insights on effective and efficient care, while also leveraging that knowledge to enhance care and better inform policy and financing. More notably, in a joined effort with the Maryland Dental Action Coalition, she testified to the Maryland House and Senate to advocate for Adult Medicaid Dental Benefits. The bill passed unanimously, and the pilot launched in June 2019.
She earned her DDS from the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of Sofia, a Ph.D. in Oral Microbiology, and a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Baltimore MD and a Masters in Clinical Research from Duke Medical University.
