This paper was commissioned by The John A. Hartford Foundation to inform a multi-stakeholder meeting in May 2015 hosted by AcademyHealth in partnership with the ABIM Foundation, the Veterans Affairs Health Services Research and Development Branch (HSR&D), Kaiser Permanente, and The John A. Hartford Foundation that brought researchers and other stakeholders together to discuss potential synergies in reducing low-value care. The report explored the challenges in understanding the term value from multiple perspectives and highlighted several concrete recommendations to ensure future research efforts account for the public’s perspective and engagement.
