Statistical information plays an important role in informing actions and policies to improve the health of individuals and communities. With this guiding principle, the National Center for Health Statistics and AcademyHealth developed the NCHS/AcademyHealth Health Policy Fellowship Program. Currently, this program is not accepting applications. AcademyHealth and NCHS are partnering for a Data Visualization Challenge this fall. Learn more about the Challenge here.
The NCHS/AcademyHealth Health Policy Fellowship Program is designed to encourage the use of NCHS data systems and programs by the health services research community in response to current health policy questions, and provide a basis for future health policy.
Each year, the program recruits one (1) fellow (preferably a senior investigator at the associate professor level, tenured or non-tenured) from the field of health services and policy research to conduct research on-site at NCHS for up to twelve months using the NCHS restricted data files, especially taking advantage of the Center’s linked data files. The duration of this appointment is approximately 12 months.
Who Should Apply?
The program is geared toward senior researchers with at least 5 years of post-doctorate research experience. Applicants must have a doctoral degree and a demonstrated record of research independence and accomplishments in health services research in disciplines such as public health, public administration, health care administration, sociology, health economics, health statistics, anthropology, and behavioral sciences, or clinical care, including medicine, nursing, dentistry, and pharmacology.
If you believe you meet these requirements, we encourage you to apply. We look at all components of the application in the review process.
The application cycle is now closed.
