Dr. Janet M. Coffman is Professor of Health Policy and Co-Associate Director for Policy Programs at Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies, Healthforce Center, and the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. She has authored numerous publications on supply and demand for health professionals, access to health professionals, and strategies for improving the geographic distribution and racial/ethnic diversity of health professionals. Professor Coffman has also used mixed methods to evaluate multiple health workforce initiatives at state and local levels. She received a PhD in Health Services and Policy Analysis and a master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
