Dr. Joniqua Ceasar is a third-year resident in the Urban Health Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency program at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Prior to residency she worked as a pre-doctoral research fellow in the Social Determinants of Obesity and Cardiovascular Risk laboratory at the National Institutes of Health. During this fellowship she developed a deeper passion for the intersection of neighborhoods and health and honed her skills in qualitative data collection and analysis. She is especially interested in the intersection of urban planning, neighborhood characteristics and environmental racism and its impact on health outcomes. She is eager to work as a primary care physician in historically marginalized communities while utilizing community-based participatory research principles to guide the implementation of evidence-based policies which eliminate health disparities in chronic disease and promote health equity.
Dr. Ceasar is a 2023 AcademyHealth Diversity Scholar.
