Mario Venegas, Ph.D., is a Health Services Research Fellow at the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety (IQuESt) in Houston, TX and a National Center for Homelessness Among Veterans (NCHAV) Fellow. He is a sociologist by training with expertise in qualitative research methods and is expanding his quantitative skills to become a mixed methods expert. His work at IQuESt helps him extend and apply his methodological skills to one of the largest integrated healthcare sectors in the US. Dr. Venegas’ research examines the following topics: (1) the effects of Behavioral Health Consultants on care team burnout and turnover; (2) adapting qualitative data collection methods for busy clinicians using asynchronous means; and (3) exploring how transportation and other social factors impact the health needs of Veterans who experience and have experienced homelessness.
