Dr. Ravi Sharaf is a gastroenterologist and health services researcher with a clinical focus on the care of patients with hereditary cancer syndromes. He is Director of Clinical Cancer Genetics at Weill Cornell Medicine and Associate Professor of Medicine, with appointments in the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine, as well the Department of Healthcare Policy and Research. His research focuses on optimizing the delivery of genomic medicine, studying the comparative and cost effectiveness of alternate cancer prevention strategies, and tailoring cancer prevention to individual risk. His research is funded by the National Cancer Institute and the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
Prior to joining Weill Cornell Medicine, Dr. Sharaf was Associate Director of Clinical Cancer Genetics and Associate Professor of Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He completed his internal medicine training at Columbia University Medical Center/New York Presbyterian Hospital. At Stanford University Hospital and Clinics, Dr. Sharaf completed fellowships in gastroenterology and clinical cancer genetics, and obtained a Masters of Science degree in Epidemiology.
Dr. Sharaf was a 2014 AcademyHealth Delivery System Science Fellow. His host site was Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.
