Dr. Talar Markossian is a health services researcher and the focus of her scholarly work is to advance knowledge about the value of healthcare to improve population health. She also focuses on investigating about strategies to eliminate health outcomes disparities. Dr. Markossian earned a Ph.D. in Health Policy and Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and an MPH in Health Services Administration from the American University of Beirut. She is currently Assistant Professor of Public Health Sciences, Health Policy and Management at Loyola University Chicago (LUC) and she holds a Research Associate appointment at Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital at Hines, IL. She has published peer-reviewed journal articles about patient navigation intervention to improve cancer outcomes, healthcare and health outcomes disparities, provider adherence with guideline concordant care, use of prescription medication, cost-effectiveness analysis and cost of care. She has secured internal and external funding for her various projects related to improving the care of patients with chronic kidney disease. She also collaborates on National Institutes of Health funding with investigators from the data analytics lab at LUC regarding work related to data science and artificial intelligence for identification and management of substance misuse.
