The Health Equity Interest Group and Women and Gender Health Interest Group, supported by the Commonwealth Fund, invite attendees to their event in the Future of Health Equity Webinar series.
Health equity research and practice offer diverse opportunities for faculty and practitioners to collaborate, expand their impact, and engage across disciplines. This webinar will explore non-linear pathways to contributing to health equity, from integrating research into teaching to working in clinical areas such as mental health, vision and blindness, and vaccination efforts. Participants will also learn how academic expertise can extend beyond universities through consulting, research dissemination, and leadership roles in organizations.
Dr. K. Davina Frick and Dr. Wendy Ingram will share insights from their experiences bridging academia and practice, including their work with Dragonfly Mental Health, an organization dedicated to improving mental health in academic communities. Their discussion will highlight strategies for fostering bidirectional mentoring to support women, LGBTQ+ faculty, and other marginalized groups. By the end of the session, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the many ways to engage in health equity work that is valued across academic and professional settings.
