This webinar focused on the efforts of states to reform the financing of long-term services and supports and provided an in-depth look at different state approaches.
AcademyHealth is pleased to contribute to the growing interest in states learning how to approach viable financing options for covering the increasing need for long-term services and supports (LTSS). The LTSS Interest Group has been one of the more active interest groups in helping promote knowledge in and around these sorts of issues.
This webinar included introductory comments by John Cutler who has been involved with various state reform efforts, with Melinda Becker of the National Governors Association then providing an overview of state-based LTSS activity. We heard from three states which have taken different approaches: Minnesota, Washington State, and Maryland. These states are not only geographically diverse, but have approached LTSS in different and innovative ways. We heard from two state administrative officials, LaRhae Knatterud of Minnesota’s Department of Human Services, and Bea Rector from the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. We also learned from Sally Leimbach, one of the members of Maryland’s effort to find and highlight potential long term care solutions. Anne Montgomery, Deputy Director of the Altarum Institute was the reactant to the discussion.
