Position Summary:

AcademyHealth is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Communications Intern to join our team. This exciting opportunity is tailored for a current student or recent graduate interested in gaining hands-on experience in communications within the health policy and research sectors. The Communications Intern will assist in executing our internal and external communications strategies, contributing to our mission of advancing health. This position reports to AcademyHealth's Digital Communications Manager. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Assist in developing, editing, and proofreading engaging content for various communication channels, including newsletters, press releases, social media, blogs, and the AcademyHealth website.
  • Social Media Management Support: Support AcademyHealth’s Digital Communications Manager with AcademyHealth’s social media presence by creating and scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and participating in the development of social media strategies.
  • Media Relations: Help maintain media contact lists, assist in drafting press releases, and support media outreach efforts.
  • Event Support: Contribute to the promotion and coverage of AcademyHealth events, including our flagship 2025 Annual Research Meeting, webinars, and courses, including developing promotional materials and assisting with live communications during events.
  • Advocacy Support: Support our advocacy and government relations team with releasing timely communications impacting the field including help with research and making website updates.
  • Website Support: Assist with the roll out of AcademyHealth’s revamped website, which will involve making changes in Drupal CMS.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Interest or background in health policy or health services research is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Drupal, WordPress, HigherLogic, and/or GA4 is a plus.

The hourly salary range is $20-$22.
