The Commentary: Electronic Health Records for Comparative Effectiveness Research reviews two articles on data quality; the first article, by Desai et al, discusses the use of electronic health records (EHRs) to form disease registries, and the second article, by Kahn et al, discusses quality control in the EHR. The author summarizes the issues and lessons learned in enhancing EHR data quality, which will help improve the quality of EHR data for comparative studies and those not experienced in working with EHR data.
