Lack of access to adequate care increases risks for both mothers and babies, with long-term health consequences. Researchers from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai show that restricted access to pregnancy-related insurance undermines national health goals, such as those outlined in Healthy People 2030. This also leads to higher uncompensated care costs for safety-net hospitals, creating financial strain on the health care system.
