Healthcare: The Journal of Delivery Science & Innovation also debuts a new section focused on health data methods, a key aspect of delivery science
WASHINGTON, DC -- AcademyHealth announced a strategic partnership with Healthcare: The Journal of Delivery Science and Innovation, published by Elsevier, to build on a shared goal to ensure the methods, data, and workforce exist to make research more reliable and relevant for care delivery.
Under this partnership, Healthcare will become an Official Journal of AcademyHealth and also debut a new section focused on a key aspect of delivery science: health data methods. The new section, entitled Insights in Analyzing Health Data, will feature articles focused on innovative methods for analyzing various types of health data and for demonstrating how delivery systems are learning from that data. As part of this transition, AcademyHealth will sunset its eGEMs journal and transition papers from that submission pathway to Healthcare.
The partnership with Healthcare builds upon AcademyHealth’s expanding portfolio of programs and services for individuals working to support health care delivery system improvement and implementation science, including a recently announced collaboration agreement with the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement and the launch of a members-only Learning Health System Interest Group at the upcoming Annual Research Meeting. These efforts join the existing support National Institutes of Health Dissemination and Implementation Science annual meeting and AcademyHealth’s Delivery System Science Fellowship and Methods and Data Council.
“With a mission to move evidence into action, AcademyHealth has been working to support the learning health system for years,” said Dr. Lisa Simpson, AcademyHealth president and CEO. “We see this partnership with Healthcare as enhancing our ability to serve a rapidly growing portion of our membership focused on leveraging data to solve some of the health systems’ most persistent challenges.”
AcademyHealth’s official journals enjoy unique opportunities to partner in the development and dissemination of evidence and commentary from AcademyHealth’s meetings and programs, while also engaging with and providing distinct benefits for AcademyHealth’s individual and organizational members. Healthcare will become the fourth official journal of AcademyHealth, joining Health Affairs, HSR and Milbank Quarterly.
“From its inception, one of Healthcare’s core goals has been to provide a scholarly “professional” home for health care delivery science researchers and practitioners,” Dr. Sachin Jain, co-editor of Healthcare, said. “It’s only natural that we should partner with AcademyHealth as the leading professional society for those working to improve health and health care through the use of evidence.”
Healthcare co-editor Dr. Amol Navathe agreed, noting the two entities’ shared history of supporting learning health care systems.
“The converging paths of AcademyHealth and Healthcare have led us to this partnership that offers a unique opportunity to now go farther, together,” said Navathe. “We look forward to seeing how bringing our two efforts together will make a lasting impact on our collective efforts to improve health and health care through the use of evidence.”
