Dr. Megan McHugh and colleagues from Northwestern University found that workers living in communities with poor health outcomes had higher rates of absenteeism. In a recent Health Affairs blog post, she suggests that the successful expansion of the manufacturing industry will be tied, in part, to the health status of manufacturing communities.
