The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is seeking comments on the proposed strategic framework for the Agency’s Patient-Centered Outcomes Research PCOR Trust Fund (PCORTF) investments through fiscal year 2029. AHRQ has developed this strategic framework to guide future planning and evaluation of the PCORTF investments.

The proposed framework includes a mission, vision, five high-level priorities, desired outcomes, and strategies for achieving the priorities, and strategies for advancing desired outcomes. The five priorities for improving health care delivery that align with AHRQ’s mission and have the potential to improve health outcomes for patients are: health equity; prevention and improved care of patients with chronic conditions; patient, family, and provider experience of care that enhances trust in the health system; high-quality, safe care that is aligned with the National Health Priorities; and primary care transformation. You can find the framework here.

AcademyHealth intends on responding to this comment with our ideas for supporting the field of health services research, and we encourage our members to inform AHRQ of their suggestions as well. You can learn more about AcademyHealth’s advice to federal agencies here. You can hear directly from AHRQ about what they hope to learn in this recent blog post, and submit your own thoughts and suggestions here. Comments are due to AHRQ no later than April 19, 2022.
