This webinar served as a preview of the Health Care Cost Institute's expanded commercial claims dataset and its availability for research.
The AcademyHealth Health Information Technology Interest Group is hosting a webinar series on research networks and their relevance for the AcademyHealth community. The series continued in advance of the 2020 Annual Research Meeting with a presentation on research resources available from the Health Care Cost Institute (HCCI).
HCCI is an independent, non-profit organization with leading health care claims datasets that enable research, policy and journalism. With rich data on over 100 million people per year, its mission is to get to the heart of the key issues impacting the U.S. health care system, particularly those economic issues that are critical to a sustainable, high-performing health system. HCCI publishes its own slate of regular reports and policy-relevant analyses, while also licensing access to its dataset to hundreds of academic, government and non-profit researchers.
During this webinar, HCCI Chief of Staff Sally Rodriguez and Director of Data Strategy John Hargraves previewed HCCI’s new “2.0” commercial claims dataset, which incorporates new sources of data from Blue Health Intelligence to produce a larger, more geographically representative data resource for researchers. Though this dataset is currently under construction, HCCI shared an overview of the resource and how researchers will be able to access it.
