As Chief Executive Officer, Abby Sears is responsible for the overall strategy and executive leadership at OCHIN. Abby has been with OCHIN since its inception and has helped it grow from a $7M Oregon-based, EHR-hosting organization with 20 members to a $100M nationally diversified health IT organization that now serves more than 500 community health care sites in 47 states. Today, OCHIN employs a growing virtual workforce of more than 1,000 staff, two thirds of whom are women—more than twice the tech industry average. By leveraging technology, data services, and the use of practice-based research, her work at OCHIN addresses differences in health that are systemic, avoidable, and unjust, to ensure all individuals have access to the best care. A prominent speaker and HIT advisor with over 20 years of health care expertise, Abby is a member of many regional and national boards, including 131 & Counting and an appointment to the ONC Health Information Technology Advisory Committee. In 2018, Abby was recognized by the Portland Business Journal as a Top 25 Women of Influence award winner. She holds an MBA and MHA, both from the University of Minnesota.
