Webinar: Ensuring Quality in TAF Research - Introducing a Reporting Checklist
The Medicaid Data Learning Network (MDLN) has developed a TAF Analysis Reporting (TAR) Checklist, recommending a series of items that should be reported in analyses of TAF to ensure that TAF-derived research is both high quality and reproducible.
Last month, AcademyHealth launched a new online portal to better serve our community. In order to register for AcademyHealth events you are required to access the portal. Overview
The T-MSIS Analytic Files (TAF) are highly complex, with varying quality across data elements and states, which requires a systematic and transparent approach to analysis. In recognition of these challenges, the Medicaid Data Learning Network (MDLN) has developed a TAF Analysis Reporting (TAR) Checklist, recommending a series of items that should be reported in analyses of TAF to ensure that TAF-derived research is both high quality and reproducible. In this webinar, we will introduce this checklist, which is meant as a guide for those who generate and evaluate analyses of the TAF. We will be joined by Dr. Julie Donohue, a journal editor and Medicaid data expert, who will expand on the value of the checklist in ensuring high quality research, as well as Dr. Laura Smith, a Medicaid researcher at the Urban Institute, who will apply the checklist to an example of her own work.

Learning Objectives
By the conclusion of this webinar, participants:
Familiarized themselves with the TAR checklist developed by the Medicaid Data Learning Network (MDLN) as a comprehensive tool for generating and evaluating high-quality, reproducible TAF analyses.
Learned a systematic and transparent approach to analyzing TAF data, essential for overcoming complexities and ensuring robust research outcomes.
Had the opportunity to provide feedback on the checklist in real time, ensuring this tool appropriately serves the TAF research community.
