How you’ll contribute:
In this role, you will execute and manage fundraising strategies to meet the organization's fundraising goals, create sustainable and diverse financial structures and other revenue streams. The Development Officer will work closely with the President and CEO, board of directors, and senior staff to strengthen the organization’s financial sustainability.
- Develop and execute comprehensive short- and long-term fundraising strategies aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic priorities.
- Set annual revenue goals and create plans to diversify funding sources, including individual donors, foundations, corporations, and other avenues, with a focus on new, increased and multi-year gifts.
- Build and mobilize networks of volunteers and donors to help identify new prospects and gain entrée.
- Personally solicit annual gifts and pledges through various channels, including presentations, phone calls, email, direct mail, and in-person meetings. Develop and execute compelling proposals, presentations, and applications.
- Research and identify new funding opportunities while staying informed on trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations to secure sustainable funding.
- Serve as a resource to the President and CEO, board of directors, and staff on fundraising strategies and best practices.
- Collaborate with senior staff to design and implement strategic fundraising initiatives, performance metrics, and revenue targets.
- Plan and execute fundraising events in partnership with the Conferences and Meetings team.
- Track and evaluate fundraising activities, monitor progress against goals, and recommend improvements to maximize effectiveness.
- Create, utilize and update a donor database by recording activities, call reports, contacts, and strategies on an on-going basis, in coordination with the existing CRM system.
- Prepare reports for leadership and the board on fundraising outcomes.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) or equivalent experience.
- 5 – 7 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and managing endowments or unrestricted funds (healthcare sector experience preferred).
- Proven success in planning and executing creative and effective fundraising campaigns and events.
- Strong understanding of fundraising principles, best practices, and ethical standards.
- Exceptional written, verbal communication and relationship-building skills, with a fundraising track record of engaging diverse stakeholders and creating persuasive proposals and presentations.
- Experience securing and managing partnerships with donors, corporations, and foundations.
- Familiarity in donor database management and CRM systems.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple priorities effectively.
- Self-motivated and capable of working proactively and independently.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.
- Leadership experience, with the ability to foster collaboration and innovation in team environments.
- Ability to travel frequently including overnight to meet with donors and collaborate with teammates.
- Occasional weekend and evening work may be required for donor and volunteer events.
The salary range is $125,000 to $140,000. Salary is commensurate with experience.
