How you’ll contribute:

In this role, you will help to drive the organization’s digital health and innovation portfolio by providing strategic leadership, generating new relationships and partnerships with public and private sector entities, expanding AcademyHealth’s reach within the digital health, data, health IT, and informatics ecosystem, and identifying and responding to emerging trends to help grow and inform our contributions, relevance, and impact in the digital health space. This ecosystem includes a broad range of applications including data analytics, real world evidence, predictive modeling AI and machine learning.

This position also contributes to other existing AcademyHealth projects in a broad range of policy issues including health care structure and finance, advancing equity, science innovation including real world evidence, and health systems improvement.

Program Development & Execution

  • Refine, expand, and lead the organization’s digital health and broader data portfolio, including defined strategies, programs/projects, priorities, and timelines, and ensure it is aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic priorities.
  • Directly responsible for fostering ties between digital health sector and health services research through program planning for the annual HDP/NHPC
  • Builds bridges between digital health innovators and health services researchers to advance evidence-based medicine using 21st Century tools.
  • Contribute to the growth of a diverse portfolio of extramural contracts, grants, strategic alliances as well as program activities with focus on digital health and health IT, which includes developing and monitoring project budgets, defining the scope of work and timelines for each, and allocating appropriate staffing
  • Direct and manage multi-functional, cross-departmental programs and/or project teams; work with project staff to create, review, and evaluate project plans and objectives; track and report progress relative to timelines and budgets; and ensure quality control over all deliverables.
  • Apply and further develop analytic, organizational, relational and/or other skills needed to produce reports and design small and large convenings to advance evidence and policy in digital health and innovation.

Leadership & Partnership Development

  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with various external stakeholders and partners, current and potential funders, individual members, and organizational affiliates, including identifying and securing strategic opportunities for collaboration with the public and private sectors to advance the organization’s digital health and innovation portfolio.
  • Represent the organization in speaking engagements, discussions and relationship development with external partners or clients and support new, existing, and diverse business connections on topics relevant to digital health, health IT, and/or health informatics.

Organization Strategy

  • Collaborate with other senior staff to contribute to AcademyHealth’s business development strategy, including assessing current business plans / processes and identifying potential business opportunities and partnerships with new and/or existing funders/partners to ensure the organization has a robust and diversified funding base.
  • Provide thought leadership and collaborate with other senior staff to develop and implement initiatives to support the strategic goals of the organization, including the creation of performance metrics and targets.

 Desired Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in informatics, health or public policy, business or related field (e.g. public health, data science) from accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 
  • Eight (8) or more years of substantive, professional experience in health policy and/or health services research.
  • Thorough understanding of and/or specific work experience relevant to digital health landscape and the intersection of technology and health and healthcare, including access barriers for low-income communities. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate an extensive and diverse professional network including senior decision-makers and leaders in fields relevant to the role.
  • Creative, entrepreneurial spirit and track record of building new programs and leading acquisitions of federal and/or foundation grants and contracts.
  • Familiarity with the role of research in developing and/or assessing the impact of digital health innovations on costs, quality, and outcomes; skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods a plus but not requires (with a preference for outcomes research and real-world evidence methods). 
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including an ability to efficiently plan, prioritize, and manage, multiple complex projects and/or programs simultaneously with limited direct supervision.

The salary range is $125,000 to $145,000. Salary is commensurate with experience.
