This 2017 Summer issue of the VA Health Services Research & Development's (VA HSR&D) FORUM showcases partnered research efforts to improve health care for rural veterans as well as the use of virtual care teams to improve access. It includes a Commentary from Thomas F. Klobucar, Ph.D., as well as articles on efforts to build an adequate VA care network, barriers to engagement in mental health care and VHA-Indian Health Service collaborations to improve rural health care.

VA HSR&D works to identify and evaluate innovative strategies that lead to accessible, high quality, cost-effective care for Veterans and the nation. In conjunction with AcademyHealth, it publishes FORUM on a quarterly basis to bring useful information derived from health services research to the attention of both VA clinicians and managers. FORUM also introduces questions, observations, comments and criticism raised by VA clinicians and managers to health services researchers.
