Eleanor Turi is a PhD student at Columbia University School of Nursing. Her research interests focus on nursing workforce and mental health care delivery, particularly related to how the primary care nurse practitioner organizational climate impacts mental health care delivery to patients in underserved areas. She has experience as an intensive care nurse, where she consistently witnessed prioritization of physical over mental health even though many patients and their families were suffering from a lack of comprehensive mental health care. Moreover, as a travel nurse, she observed how the work environment varies based on the setting and can be a major factor in health care providers’ ability to deliver quality health care. These experiences fueled her desire to pursue health services research focused on supporting and advocating for nurses, who she believes are well positioned to address the growing mental health care needs of our nation.
