Harry Weissman | AcademyHealth

Harry Weissman serves as the Executive Director of the Disability Policy Consortium (DPC), Massachusetts' leading disability rights organization. Dedicated to advancing the rights of all persons with disabilities, DPC has redefined the role of government in improving the lives of people with disabilities through grassroots advocacy, community-based participatory research, and policy analysis and development. With over six years at DPC, including three years as Director of Advocacy, Harry has played a direct role in driving the organization’s major victories, including improving state wheelchair repair policies and co-founding the Paul W. Spooner Generational Leadership Summit. His leadership focuses on fostering collaboration, advocating for systemic change, and ensuring the full inclusion of people with disabilities in their communities.

Harry Weissman is a 2022 grantee of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Community Research for Health Equity program, managed by AcademyHealth.

White Systems, Black Lives: Exposing Racial and Linguistic Barriers to Independence and Community Living for Disabled BIPOC in Springfield, MA

The goal of this community-based participatory action research study is to expose racist, ableist, and culturally biased systems that lead to poor health outcomes for Black, Indigenous, People of Color with Disabilities (BIPOC-PWD) in Springfield, MA, and that prevent them from living meaningful independent lives in the community of their choice.
