James C. Capretta has more than three decades of experience in health care and fiscal policy. He is currently a resident fellow and holds the Milton Friedman Chair at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), and he spent more than 16 years in public service earlier in his career. From 2001 to 2004, he was an associate director at the White House’s Office of Management and Budget, where he was responsible for all health care, Social Security, welfare, labor, and education issues. He also spent ten years as a senior analyst in Congress, at the Senate Budget Committee and House Ways and Means Committee.
