Dr. Jonah Stulberg is a General Surgeon and Health Services Researcher at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in the Divisions of Gastrointestinal and Endocrine Surgery.  He earned his Ph.D. in Health Services Research with a concentration on Epidemiology and Biostatistics and a Master’s in Public Health in Public Policy at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.  With clinical training at the Case Comprehensive Hernia Center, his clinical practice specializes in recurrent and complex abdominal wall hernias  and advanced minimally invasive procedures.  In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Stulberg is the Principal Investigator on federally funded research projects where he studies methods for opioid reduction in surgical prescribing and preventing drug diversion. Dr. Stulberg is also the Director of the Opioid Reduction Efforts and runs a Video-Based Coaching (VBC) Project for the Illinois Surgical Quality Improvement Collaborative (ISQIC), a 55-hospital quality collaborative with hospitals throughout Illinois.  Through the VBC project, he studies how video ratings are linked to patient outcomes and how video recordings combined with deliberate practice can be used to achieve technical excellence.
