Keisuke Nakagawa is Director of Innovation at UC Davis Health leading the health system’s digital health innovation hub, Digital CoLab. He is also the Executive Director of the UC Davis Health Cloud Innovation Center, an open innovation partnership with Amazon Web Services to tackle healthcare’s biggest challenges with a focus on digital health equity. As a physician and entrepreneur, his mission is to make healthcare more accessible and equitable through innovative design, technology, and policy.   

Dr. Nakagawa has launched startups, worked at the Congress Budget Office on major legislation including the Affordable Care Act and the HITECH Act, and consulted for pharmaceutical companies, payors, and institutional investors. He has published on a wide range of topics from artificial intelligence, autonomous robotic surgery, tissue engineering, and social media use among physicians.   

Dr. Nakagawa was a Fulbright Scholar to Bangladesh where he worked with the largest NGO to pilot a micro health insurance program for rural villagers and pregnant women. The program was scaled nationally through the Ministry of Health as a maternal health voucher program. He has served on numerous boards and committees including two terms on the National Board of Directors of the Fulbright Association, the HIMSS Innovation Committee, and currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Social Determinants of Health Committee at HIMSS.   

Dr. Nakagawa received his M.D. from University of California Davis School of Medicine and his B.A. in Biological Sciences from Cornell University.
