Lauren Gerchow is a community public health nurse and a second year Ph.D. student at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. Lauren's research focuses on sexual and reproductive health outcomes including abortion, contraception, and perinatal outcomes. A bilingual registered nurse, she is interested in how language barriers and within-group cultural differences contribute to health disparities and how nurses, especially community and public health nurses, can serve as a bridge to better outcomes. Lauren is a Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) nurse working in Brooklyn, New York City, where she provides education, support, case management, and lactation consultation for first-time families. She received her masters in nursing informatics from the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus, where she developed an interest in human-centered design principles, which she plans to use to conduct her dissertation.
