Lori Sakoda, Ph.D., M.P.H., is a translational epidemiologist and research scientist at the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research, who is dedicated to advancing early detection, control, and effective and equitable care of lung and other cancers. She is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Systems Science at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. Her research encompasses evaluating patterns of care, health disparities, and outcomes along the continuum from pulmonary nodule evaluation to lung cancer treatment and survivorship; assessing the application of risk prediction models to optimize screening processes for lung and colorectal cancer; and discovering novel markers of shared genetic risk for multiple types of cancer. In addition to research, she engages in professional service to other organizations, including the American Thoracic Society and National Lung Cancer Roundtable.
