Mandi Bishop is a Senior Research Director Analyst with Gartner’s CIO Industries Research group who’s been a fangirl of Health Datapalooza since its inception. A healthcare technologist for almost 20 years, her winding path to punditry includes multiple stops along the elation and heartbreak of startup entrepreneurship, as well as leadership roles at Fortune 500 technology companies. The path is paved with social media, which gave her the opportunity to be an armchair industry analyst long before she got the official title. She feeds her obsession with open data by peppering her engagements with clients (and, occasionally, family members) with insights gleaned from analyzing CMS, census, and BRFSS data sets in her spare time.
Prior to Gartner, Mandi’s experience includes being the founder of Lifely Insights, a startup focused on making social determinants of health actionable, identifying unmet needs and scoring intervention effectiveness for underserved populations. She co-chaired the HealthIMPACT Forum series and is proud to have helped launch its inaugural Social Determinants of Health Summit event.
Mandi’s career spans the healthcare technology continuum, from payers to providers, clearinghouses to PBMs, as well as public and private HIEs. Most recently, she led the Health Plan Analytics Innovation and Consulting practice at Dell Services (now NTT DATA). She served as an industry ambassador to Americas Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) and Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), was recognized by Rock Health as a Role Model in their annual State of Women in Healthcare report, and was twice named one of the Most Powerful Women in Healthcare IT by Health Data Management magazine.
