Michael I. Harrison, Ph.D. is a Senior Research Scientist in the Center for Evidence and Practice Improvement at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. He is a subject matter expert in research on organization and delivery system change.  He has initiated and cooperated in projects on implementation and dissemination of system improvements, health system learning, applications of Lean-Toyota Production System to health care, organizational transformation, high performance management practices, and implementation of health information technology. His publications include papers in leading health services research journals, two books on organizational diagnosis and assessment, and Implementing Change in Health Systems: Market Reforms in the United Kingdom, Sweden, and the Netherlands (Sage, 2004).  Recent papers address learning from implementation setbacks, lean implementation, and a framework for research on process redesign. 

Dr. Harrison holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Michigan. He was previously a faculty member at SUNY, Stony Brook and at Bar Ilan University in Israel; a visiting professor at Boston College and Haifa University; and a visiting scholar at Brandeis University, Georgetown University, Harvard Business School, and the Nordic School of Public Health.
