Mike Stout is the George Kaiser Family Foundation Endowed Chair in Family and Community Policy at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa, and Co-Director of the Center for Public Life at OSU-Tulsa. Dr. Stout’s research focuses on how social and economic inequities limit access to valuable connections, resources, and opportunities, and how these inequities lead to disparities in outcomes related to health and well-being for individuals and communities. His research is primarily community-based, and he works collaboratively to co-create and implement equitable participatory processes for understanding and addressing complex public issues. As co-director of the Center for Public Life at OSU-Tulsa (CPL), Dr. Stout brings more than ten years of experience using public deliberation and participatory research to advance the Center’s mission of working in partnership with communities to address public problems using research-based, community-centered approaches to building a more equitable and vibrant democratic society.
