Nataliya V. Ivankova, PhD, MPH, is Professor in the Department of Health Services Administration, School of Health Professions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Ivankova is internationally recognized for her scholarly publications addressing empirical and methodological aspects of qualitative and mixed methods research and her authorship of two books (Mixed Methods Applications in Action Research: From Methods to Community Action, 2015, Sage; and Mixed Methods Research: A Guide to the Field, 2016, Sage, co-authored with Vicki Plano Clark). As an applied methodologist working at the intersection of mixed methods, qualitative, participatory, action and translational research, she shares her research expertise through teaching mixed methods and qualitative research courses, mentoring doctoral students and faculty, and serving as key personnel on funded projects. She also directs a graduate certificate program in Applications of Mixed Methods Research and oversees the design and analytical aspects of qualitative and mixed methods projects in the Mixed Methods and Qualitative Research and Evaluation unit within the Center for Health Informatics for Patient Safety and Quality. She is a founding Co-editor of the Mixed Methods Research Series (Sage) and serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Mixed Methods Research. She is a Section Editor for qualitative and mixed methods research of the 4th edition of the International Encyclopedia of Education (Elsevier).
