Paula Kett is a research scientist at the Center for Health Workforce Studies at the University of Washington. She received her PhD in nursing science and her MPH from the University of Washington and has a background as an ICU nurse, public health nurse, maternal health program manager, and lactation consultant. In her current role, she seeks to address health inequities through conducting equity- and systems-oriented research focused on the public health and perinatal health care workforce. This includes research on health equity competencies among the public health workforce, on the association between different perinatal staffing mixes in FQHCs and birth outcomes, on the experiences and expertise of community-based doulas and on ways better enumerate the public health nurse workforce.
