Theresa Y. Kim, Ph.D., M.S., is a Program Officer for the Population and Social Processes Branch (PSP) of the NIA Division of Behavioral and Social Research (BSR). Dr. Kim has a statistical genetics, population health, and global health background related to health behavior topics such drug and alcohol abuse, reproductive health services, and research infrastructure. Prior to joining BSR in 2022, Dr. Kim was a program officer of methods to improve Clinical Effectiveness Research and Patient-Centered Outcomes Research at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). Theresa earned her Ph.D. in Health Services with a Certificate in Global Health at the University of Maryland and her M.S. in Biostatistics at the University of Washington. She has also served as monitoring and evaluation specialist at the Women in Public Service Project, a non-governmental organization founded by former US Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton. She has extensive experience in program evaluation and statistical methods and is an expert at handling nationally representative data. She has conducted program evaluations for Gates Foundation, US State Department, US Health and Human Services Department, and USAID-funded programs. Dr. Kim also previously served as an at-large board member and the mentoring division chair of the American Statistical Association, Washington, DC, branch.
