Tyler Harvey (they/them) is a M.D./Ph.D. (Public Health) student at the Yale School of Medicine whose research studies the structural determinants of health for marginalized populations. Their recent work explores how laws and policies dictate LGBTQ+ health and investigates mass incarceration as a driver of health inequity in the US. Tyler’s work has been published in popular media outlets such as Newsweek and The Emancipator, in leading health journals including BMC Health Services Research and Social Sciences and Medicine, and used in collaboration with local and international agencies, including the NYC Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice and the World Health Organization. Tyler has an interdisciplinary background with a BA in Urban Studies from Rhodes College and MPH from the Yale School of Public Health. Prior to starting their MD/PhD program, Tyler completed an international Thomas J. Watson fellowship titled: "Embodied Poverty: Experiences and Voices of the Poor, Sick, and Surviving."
